Calvin offers a fast paced thirty five minute magic show, laced with comedy and audience participation. The birthday child helps throughout the show, along with their guests. Following the show Calvin will twist 3 balloons into a crown for the birthday child and then continues to make balloon animals for all the children present. The total show lasts approximately 45 – 60 minutes. Calvin’s show is guaranteed to make your spirits soar, it has been polished to perfection over the course of 27 years

GRIMSBY — Around the Cutts household, visitors have learned to expect the unexpected. It could be the vanishing handkerchief, or maybe the newspaper that is torn up, only to be magically re-assembled again.

While anyone growing up in Grimsby the past 15 years is probably familiar with Calvin the Magician, the real secret to the magic is that it’s a family affair. There’s Sparkles the Clown, Calvin’s wife Ruth; and their daughters Sheri and Nichala. Together, they team up to present Calvin’s Magical Entertainment.

With his own audience at home, Calvin worked on his own act, before performing his first show at a family birthday party. He was also building up his act with new equipment, admitting he’s still buying more stuff to pack into the “Room of Magic” at his Grimsby home. The business has even spun off into lawn-sized birthday signs and bouncy castle rentals.

Nichala and Sheri quickly came on board, helping out as his assistants during shows. Sheri has served as his assistant since she was six years old, said Calvin. Both she and Nichala have learned the tricks alongside their father.

Now 18 years later, Calvin has become a familiar face at events across the area, playing not only birthdays but special events, festivals and even corporate picnics.

The shows are geared to any type of audience, from children to adults to seniors. Calvin says he is even working on special themes, like a Safety and Magic Program, to tie into some of the shows to provide an educational benefit.

They also participate in various charitable events, including free shows at the McMaster Children’s Hospital one to two times a year.

And as long as Ruth, Calvin, Sheri and Nichala keep bringing out the smiles in people, that’s what will keep the entire family doing what they do.
